Large heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (hvac) buttons can be operated while wearing gloves. A textured fabric is used for trim around the audio and hvac controls that gives the center dash a nice look and feel.

It sacrifices a few inches of bed space for interior space. regular cab and quad cab versions offer identical roominess in the front seats. Standard front seating in the ram is a bench split 40/20/40. The narrow center section features a large fold-down armrest with a compartment big enough to hold a laptop. we've found both the cloth and the leather seats comfortable. The driving position is good, with good visibility in all directions, though the aerodynamic front end makes it impossible to see the front corners. Big mirrors on the ram make it easy to see what's behind. we found the bucket seats in the sport version comfortable and supportive and the sporty fabric looks durable. The latest fabrics, first introduced with the 2007 models, are designed to be more stain and odor-resistant than before, while also reducing static cling. Laramie models get silver trim adorning the door panels and instrument bezels. Laramie comes with distinctive leather trim, with higher-contrast color seat inserts. the ram interior shows attention to details that add utility and convenience. The big fold-down center armrest/console comes with adjustable dividers and a power outlet. A hook on the passenger-side floor well is provided for securing a plastic grocery bag or anything else with suitable handles. premium amenities such as the full-screen gps navigation radio and bluetooth hands-free communications are available, along with a rear-seat dvd system for quad cabs. We found the navigation radio to be a nice design and relatively easy to operate; these systems are getting better all the time and the latest chrysler group's systems work quite well. overall, the center dash is a paradigm of convenience. Large heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (hvac) buttons can be operated while wearing gloves. A textured fabric is used for trim around the audio and hvac controls that gives the center dash a nice look and feel.

This all-new pickup boasts levels of refinement and comfort that match those of the best trucks from general motors and ford. New designs from gm and ford had put them ahead on this score, but that's all changed with the 2002 dodge ram. This complete overhaul puts the dodge back on solid ground with the half-ton pickups from ford and gm. lineupdodge ram is available with two cab configurations, regular cab and quad cab. Quad cab models ride on a wheelbase that's 20 -inches longer than comparable regular cab models. two bed lengths are available, a 6-foot, 3-inch standard bed and an 8-foot long bed. Ordering the long bed only adds about $300 to the price. Long-bed models ride on a wheelbase that's 20 inches longer than comparable short-bed models. The old one looks mashed down compared with the new one. few grilles are as instantly recognizable as the massive horse collar grille of the ram. Even more massive this year, the grille distinguishes among trim levels: the horse collar is all chrome on the slt model, with a gray honeycomb center. Slt+ features a body-color grille surround and chrome cross hairs. Sport trim includes a body-color surround and cross hairs with unique chrome billets in the center. moving rearward, the new ram presents a more robust appearance than before with a broad, sloping hood and a pronounced crown that falls to the bold front fenders. A faster, raked-back windshield improves aerodynamics and water management, and gives the new ram a more modern appearance. The leading edge of the front door overlaps the a-pillar, creating a smoother transition from the front of the cab to the side. Everything is smoother and more integrated. The big side mirrors, great for visibility, are now mounted on platforms to reduce wind noise, and a channel has been specially designed to keeps water off of the mirrors. An integrated air dam improves engine cooling and air conditioner performance. standard bed length is 6 feet, 3 inches, but an 8-foot bed is now available for both cab styles. That's a bit much when trying to heave heavy gear aboard. interiorram interiors are completely redesigned for 2002. In fact, one of the biggest improvements offered by the new ram is in the area of comfort. that comfort starts with roominess. To increase roominess, dodge stole 3 inches out of the bed and added more than 3 inches to the cab. The optional leather seats are also comfortable and supportive during long drives. Three-point shoulder belts are used at all locations, including the rear center seat. A big fold-down center armrest/console comes with adjustable dividers and a power outlet. White-faced instruments with turquoise numbers look sporty and trendy, but don't offer the legibility of traditional white-on-black designs, particularly at dusk. At night, the instruments are nicely illuminated in green. the design of the audio system could be improved for ease of use. Setting a button for a station, for example, requires pressing a separate set button, rather than just holding the button down. Sliding bass and treble controls are harder to adjust than knobs when bouncing around in a pickup truck. Optional steering wheel audio controls 75) solve this with brilliantly designed buttons behind the steering wheel that are much easier to use than the awkward steering wheel controls found on gm's full-size trucks. Likewise, cruise controls on the steering wheel are easy to operate. otherwise, the center dash is a paradigm of convenience. Just below the hvac controls is a slot lined with a rubber mat that's perfect for a wallet or other small items. A big panel below that folds down with adjustable cup holders. Overhead is a console with an effective pair of map lights, a trip computer, a compartment for sunglasses, and a compass, which every self-respecting truck should have. regular cab models come fitted with a tray behind the seats big enough to hold a large bucket. Dodge even supplies the bucket, a tray designed to carry tools and such. There's even a hook just to the right of the center dash that's useful for hanging onto a couple of grocery bags; the brits call these curry hooks. the new quad cab is quite nice. It's easy to see why. The rear seat is roomy, with enough rake to the seatback to make it comfortable for two adults. Its size also makes the rear bench seat suitable for child safety seats. The charger has all the pavement-ripping, gut-thumping power of the old muscle cars, but is packaged with modern creature comforts and tempered by startling levels of handling competency. Three engines are available, a 250-horsepower, 3. 5-liter v6; a 340-hp, 5. 7-liter v8; and a 350-hp, 5. 7-liter v8. All come with a five-speed, autostick automatic. the entry-level charger is the se, fitted with the v6 22,320). Cloth upholstery is standard, but the se isn't lacking in creature and driver comforts. There was the barest hint of a so-called coke bottle look, with the body sides slightly pinched in about where there would have been a b-pillar. Not until the 1968 model year was any attention paid to moving the car rapidly through the air with minimal disturbance. The 2006 charger starts at much the same place on the automotive styling evolutionary curve. and for good reason. The same design team that parented the chrysler 300 and dodge magnum birthed this new charger. The charger is built on the same platform as those two, but is three inches longer overall. The charger reportedly was planned all along to be a sedan version of the magnum. with this legacy, it's no surprise that there's an uprightness to the charger's silhouette, regardless of viewing angle. The front end, in fact, tilts forward, as if it's leaning into the wind, specifically to recall the brutish, pre-aero-age styling of its muscle car era namesake. The trademark dodge crosshairs, chromed on the sxt and r/t, body-color in the se and srt8 and flat black on the daytona, dominate the front end. Compound halogen headlights peer out under hooded, almost scowling brows. A thin, trifurcated air intake slices across the lower portion of the front bumper, beneath which the daytona and srt8 wear a trim, flat-black chip spoiler. Fog lamps on the sxt and higher models fill small, sculpted insets at the lower corners. from the side, the demi-fastback roofline and glasshouse look more grafted onto the somewhat fulsome body than a natural extension of the overall styling theme, very much as if the designer were trying to make a sedan look like a coupe. The beltline arcs softly back from a slight droop over the headlights to about midway in the rear side window, then kicks up over the rear quarter panel, visually bulking up the car's already hefty haunches. Flip-up, top-hinged door handles are flush mounted but operate sufficiently friendly to pose no major threats to fingernails. the rear perspective shows a tall, almost vertical backside, with large taillights draped over the upper corners. A modest, kamm-like lip stretches across the trailing edge of an expansive trunk lid, atop which sits a lift-suppressing spoiler on the daytona and srt8. A recess in the bumper holds the license plate. On the se and sxt a single exhaust tip exits beneath the right-hand side, while the v8-powered models sport chrome-tipped, muscle car-idiom, dual exhausts. the charger's styling is loosely reflected on nascar's nextel cup cars, primarily seen in the crosshair grille and the painted-on taillights. interiormuch of what holds about the charger's exterior carries over to its interior, only more so. Where the outside only suggests other chrysler and dodge cars, the inside looks as if it's been lifted, locks, steering column and bucket seats from the magnum, with a fixture and feature here and there brought over from a dakota or a durango. the dash and instrument cluster is identical to the magnum's, with the minor exception of surface trims on the center stack and center console, and when ordered on the r/t, the navigation display. This isn't to complain, but to compliment, as the arrangement is pleasantly informative. From the driver's seat, easily scanned, large, round speedometer and tachometer share the top half of the steering wheel opening, with fuel and coolant temperature gauges down in the left and right corners, respectively. The steering wheel, too, comes directly from the magnum. Air conditioning registers fill the top of the center stack, above the stereo/navigation display, with the climat.
