When it comes to safety, all rabbits are equipped with six airbags, traction control, anti-lock brakes, front safety belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, anti-intrusion side door beams, and a steering wheel which is deformable/collapsible upon impact. Electronic stabilization program (esp) with brake assist is optional. The fifth-gen golf has been renamed rabbit for 2006. Other notable changes include an all new exterior and interior design, new engine and transmissions, and a fully independent multilink rear suspension.
