Comfortable compact priced to sell. introductionthe ford focus is inexpensive, stylish, practical and fun. We found it more comfortable than some of the other compact cars, with roomy, cushy seats and a nice balance between a soft, smooth ride and responsive handling. It feels more european than japanese or american in demeanor and refined for the class. focus comes in three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback, sedan, and wagon body styles. That makes it appeal to different types of people and meet their individual needs. the sedans are comfortable and move people efficiently. The three-door hatchback is economical and practical, yet sporty and fun at the same time. The five-door hatchback makes it easier for rear-seat passengers to join in the merriment. The wagons can carry a ton of cargo and are good for dogs. for 2007, the focus enjoys optional new leather-trimmed sport seats, two new exterior colors and upgrades to the sound systems. The focus is expected to get styling revisions and other upgrades for 2008, so expect deals on the 2007 models. the zx4 st is particularly sporting with strong acceleration from its 151-hp engine and sharp handling and precise steering from its sports suspension. The s trim level comes with manual driver's seat-height adjustment, split-folding rear seat, am/fm/cd/mp3, and 15-inch wheels. Side-impact airbags 350) are available for all models, and we strongly recommend getting them. Anti-lock brakes 400) and traction control 115) are available for most models. Its styling at the time was fresh and innovative. Styling revisions for 2005 gave it a more refined, more grownup appearance, but it continues with same general theme of sweeping arcs and crisp creases that we've grown accustomed to. interiorthe interior features a traditional, clean and stylish look. The instrument panel is symmetrical with the driver and passenger areas divided by two rectangular climate control registers, the hazard switch and a shallow center stack for the audio and climate controls. for 2007, new sport seats with leather seating surfaces and contrasting leather inserts are available on the st sedan as well as the se and ses models (except wagon). This seat treatment is part of the new interior upgrade package 495), which also includes two-tone, leather-wrapped steering wheel with charcoal upper and flint lower to match the seating surfaces; a satin finish on the center stack surround and instrument-panel cluster gauge surround; and black sill plates with exposed focus in body color. street appearance packages are offered for the st sedan and the zx3, zx4 and zx5 se and ses models to give the focus a more sporty, tuner look. The sport appearance packages feature spoilers as the focal point, along with unique front fascia and rear bumper treatments and bright exhaust tips. on two-tone models, the lower portions of the instrument panel and door trim panels are finished in a lighter shade for a more open feeling. Cloth and leather upholstery are offered. The zx4 st has unique woven fabrics or suede seating surfaces surrounded with leather trim. a standard floor console houses the shifter, two cupholders, the parking brake, and controls for options such as traction control. An overhead console includes a sunglasses holder and a space for a garage door opener. Storage is also provided in the front doors, which feature molded-in bottle holders. a cd player with mp3 capability is standard on all models. It puts out much lower emissions so it meets california's pzev (partial zero emissions vehicle) standards. the focus zx4 st is fun to drive. Ford borrowed suspension pieces from the european-market focus and the 2004 focus svt to give the zx4 st sharper handling. The zx4 st comes with unique 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels and pirelli all-season radials. The package provides sharp handling response, precise steering and generally an enjoyable connection with the road. we found the higher horsepower engine in the focus zx4 st delivered strong acceleration performance and cruised easily on the highway. The only complaint with the engine was noise. Despite efforts by ford engineers to quiet the cabin, the zx4 st was noisy even when cruising at highway speeds. The 'cuda is gone now, and so are the camaro, firebird, cougar, javelin, challenger, and every other would-be rival, leaving ford's pony to prance alone. At least for now. for 2007, the 210-hp mustang v6 and 300-hp mustang gt are joined by the new 500-hp supercharged shelby gt500, offering its own look, tuning, and equipment. available in fastback coupe or convertible body styles, the mustang v6 models make nice, stylish cruisers. The gt is an absolute hoot to drive, making all the right sounds, hanging onto corners tenaciously, and delivering thrilling acceleration performance. The shelby gt500 adds to the fun with its near-corvette performance. It's quite tossable, making for good sport on gymkhanas, race tracks or back roads. It delivers the bold styling, rear-drive performance and affordability that have been mustang hallmarks for decades, but it's smoother and quieter and better built than older models. its interior looks like a throwback from the '60s, but it's functional and well finished. Granted, interior space is limited, especially given its exterior dimensions; and the back seat might better be described as a package shelf. the ford mustang is an american success story. Front passenger side-impact airbags 380) are optional on all models, so be sure to order them as they are designed to offer torso protection in a side impact. walkaroundnothing says modern american sporty car better than this latest mustang. Its long hood and short rear deck capitalize on 40 years of pony-car heritage. The current mustang features classic design cues that have defined mustangs since the 1960s: c-scoops in the sides, three-element tail lamps and a galloping horse badge in the center of the grille. Its menacing shark-like nose is reminiscent of the 1967-70 models. yet the mustang follows modern trends by offering ever-larger wheels, including two distinct 18-inch wheel designs for the gt. The modern mustang is based on the same mechanical platform as the jaguar s-type, albeit with some cost-trimming measures such as its live-axle rear suspension. relative to previous mustangs, everything under the car has been substantially upgraded. The brakes are bigger by nearly 20 percent. A completely new front and rear suspension yields a much quieter, smoother ride as well as much more precise steering during hard cornering. New engines deliver performance with efficiency. Optional antilock brakes bundled with traction control give any a fighting chance in bad situations. all mustang engines are secured to the body with hydraulic mounts, which absorb and counteract vibration and pulsing. By adapting ideas and components from luxury cars, ford has given the current mustang a level of sophistication its predecessors never had. Yet the mustang heritage of low-cost performance and flashy styling has not been compromised one iota. like its muscle-era namesake, the shelby gt500 stands out with a unique front grille and bumper fascia, providing both a functionally larger and unimpeded air intake, while reducing air flow under the body. A unique engine hood with dual air-extraction slits is domed to clear the larger, 5. 4-liter engine. Carroll shelby's signature striking-cobra emblem glowers from the gas cap and from a characteristically off-center position in the grille. The whole package rides on unique 18-inch rims sporting ford's svt (special vehicle team) logo. Just as in 1968, coupes are topped by le mans-style racing stripes. They look terrific, though we're not sure they should carry down onto the rear bumper where they compete with the rear license plate. shelby convertibles feature a premium fabric for the top. interiorthe mustang interior is as blatantly throwback as the exterior, and nearly as well done. It's sporty and crisp in appearance and straightforward in function. there's a heavy dose of 1967 mustang inside, with the dash divided into distinct right and left pods, blended with modern touches. Chrome-ringed air vents align across the dash, precisely in line with the gauges, and the steering wheel has three spokes with a center hub marked by the horse-and-tricolor-bars logo. While some of the materials have a cost-saving look and feel, the package is not bad given the high style and price of entry. Speaking of brightening, however, there's enough shiny metal on this car's dash and steering wheel to create some glare problems for drivers on sunny days (just like the old days). Another interior upgrade package, with satin or dark-finish aluminum inserts instead of chrome, goes a long way toward eliminating traces of cheapness. these are the good old days in terms of roominess in the mustang.
